In 2026, the City of Little Rock received a grant from the nonprofit Smart Growth America to help revive West Ninth Street, following a 2018 U.S. Department of the Interior/National Park Service grant that funded the Dreamland Ballroom's restoration. Real, sourced capital interest is returning to the corridor decades after its urban-renewal clearance and highway severance — watch for whether reinvestment translates into resident-benefiting outcomes (ownership, jobs, housing stability) for the historically Black neighborhoods immediately south of I-630, or whether it follows the appreciation-without-resident-benefit pattern documented in comparable seeded places.
